What’s In My MAC Palette?

What’s In My MAC Palette?

I love collecting MAC eyeshadow pans, and as of now I have 23 so I thought I’d do a post about them! I have sorted them by finish and will give my thoughts on them and how often I find myself reaching for them. I will include my own personal swatches as well. Let’s get started!

Frost Finish

“peachy brown with shimmer”

How often and where do I use this?

I love dustin this all over the lid or just patting it in the center of my eye for a golden halo look. I reach for this often, I have plenty of different golds and bronzes but nothing that looks quite like this.

Should you buy it?

If you love warm, gold eye looks, then this is a must have. I think it is flattering with all eye colors, especially green or hazel.

Cranberry

“red plum with pink shimmer”

How often and where do I use this?

I either lightly dust this all over my lid, or I buff it into my outer v to darken a look. I don’t use this daily, but lately I’ve been loving it for date nights.

Should you buy it?

If red or pink eyeshadow isn’t you thing, then maybe pass on this one. It can be a little tricky to work with because it is such a unique color and it’s crazy pigmented, but if you aren’t afraid of a challenge then grab this!

Satin Taupe

“taupe with silver shimmer”

How often and where do I use this?

I use this shadow all the time, it was one of the first ones I  bought. I use this in my crease, all over the lid, but especially on the outer half of my eye to make any eye look a little smokier.

Should you buy it?

I always recommend this shadow when people ask what to get from MAC. It is pretty neutral toned in my opinion, so I think it would work on many different complexions.

Nylon

“pale gold with icy shimmer”

How often and where do I use this?

Honestly, I don’t use this that often just because it is so intense. When I do use it, I mostly put it on my inner tear duct to highlight that area or under my brow bone very softly as a highlight.

Should you buy it?

While I don’t use it often, it is such a beautiful color, and its the perfect inner corner highlight for heavier eye looks.

Veluxe Pearl

All That Glitters

All That Glitters

“beige with gold pearl”

How often and where do I use this?

I am constantly reaching for this color. My favorite way to use it is all over the lid on light make up days, and in the inner half of my eye with a darker color in the crease and outer v.

Should you buy it?

Yes. It is such an every day color. It looks stunning on its own or with so many other colors. Pick this up ASAP.

Sumptuous Olive

“khaki with pearl”

How often and where do I use this?

I don’t use this as often as I would like to, but I do reach for it every now and then. When I do use it, I like it on the outer half of my lid, paired with smokey brown liner.

Should you buy it?

If you have hazel or brown eyes, yes. This color really brings out the gold in the eyes.

Coppering

“orange copper”

How often and where do I use it?

I just got this so I haven’t used it too much, but when I do I love putting it on the outer corner of my eye paired with a gold or a bronze.

Should you buy it?

This color is so stunning, I say yes, grab it if you can. But it pulls crazy warm so keep that in mind!

Woodwinked

“warm antique gold”

How often and when do I use this?

This is, hands down, my favorite shadow from MAC. I use this almost every day all over my lid. It makes my eyes look so crazy green I love it! This looks so different on everyone and I love using it on my friends when I do their makeup.

Should you buy it?

Yes. If you buy one MAC shadow, let it be this one please.

Silvering

“grey with silver sheen”

How often and where do I use this?

I just bought this last week so I really have barely touched it, but I can’t wait to use in on my inner corners in a really dark smokey eye.

Should you buy it?

If you rarely stray from warm tones then no, because this shadow is straight up cool. But if you are looking for a unique silver, then this has your name all over it.

Velvet

“burgundy with red shimmer”

How often and where do I use this?

I use this in my outer v to darken up warmer eye looks. Its pretty pigmented so you need a really light hand.

Should you buy it?

Its not a necessity of mine, so I don’t really recommend it for beginners.

Vanilla

“peachy ivory with reflects”

How often and where do I use this?

I rarely touch this. If I do, I use it as a subtle inner corner highlight but that’s really it.

Should you buy it?

Save your money with this one. There are small chunks of glitter in it and it’s not nearly as pigmented as I had hoped.

Satin

Cork

“muted golden brown”

How often and where do I use this?

This is another one of my favorites! I use this daily in my crease on its own or with a more muted look. For brown smokey eyes I like to use this to smoke everything out and get rid of any harsh lines.

Should you buy it?

Yes, this is such a beautiful, blend-able brown, and its perfect for no makeup makeup looks and every day use.

Club

“red brown with green pearl”

How often and where do I use this?

While I don’t use this often, I adore this color. It is such a cool, shifting shade that looks different every time I use it! I like this lightly all over the lid or packed into the outer corner.

Should you buy it?

If you are into different, interesting duo chromes then yes!

Coquette

“muted greyish taupe”

How often and where do I use this?

I use this every now and then in my crease or my outer v.

Should you buy it?

If you have any eyeshadow palettes, chances are you have a color like this. So check your stash before purchasing!

Matte

Soft Brown

“soft golden peachy brown”

How often and where do I use this?

I use this pretty much every day as a transition color and deeper into my crease. It is such a beautiful shade to use in warmer eye looks.

Should you buy it?

I say yes! Unless you are partial to cool colors because this shadow definitely pulls warm.

Plumage

“dusky peacock”

How often and where do I use this?

I just recently got this, but I am loving it! It is such a cool color to use in a smokey eye packed on with Fix +. Kathleen Lights has a great tutorial on a smokey eye using this, and if you buy this or have a similar color you should check it out!

Should you buy it?

If you aren’t afraid of dark colors, then yes! It is a super unique shade.

Red Brick

“orange red”

How often and where do I use this?

I have probably only used this three times since I got it. It is such a bright and intense color that it scares me every time I open up my palette!

Should you buy it?

Only if you love bright reds and oranges! This color is not for the faint of heart.

Copperplate

Copperplate

“muted mid tone grey”

How often and where do I use this?

I use this in my crease for cooler looks which isn’t that often honestly.

Should you buy it?

If you are looking for a good, cool transition or crease shade then yes!

Kid

“beige cashmere”

How often and where do I use this?

I use this quite often all over my lid to set my primer or as a very light transition shade.

Should you buy it?

Yes! I think this could work for many different skin tones as many different things.

Wedge

Wedge.JPG

wedge.JPG

“soft muted beige taupe”

How often and where do I use this?

I use this in my crease on no make up make up days or as a darker transition shade.

Should you buy it?

Yes, but buy either this or Omega because they are crazy similar.

Omega

“soft muted beige taupe”

How often and where do I use this?

I use this interchangeably with Wedge for the same thing.

Should you buy it?

Buy either this or Wedge, whichever catches your eye first.

Malt

“soft pinkish beige”

How often and where do I use this?

I use this often all over my lid to set my primer or as a brow highlight!

Should you buy it?

Yes, but check your collection first, because there is a good chance you have something similar if not identical.

Charcoal Brown

Charcoal Brown.JPG

charcoal brown.JPG

“muted taupe brown”

How often and where do I use this?

I use this in my outer v and crease all the time when I want something a little darker than usual. It is very ashy which I love!

Should you buy it?

Yes, but again, check your collection because it is a pretty common color that you might already own.

Thanks for reading y’all!

Glowingly yours,

Jess
