January Boxycharm

So I have been subscribed to Boxycharm for a few months now, and I’ve cancelled almost all other beauty boxes because of it! Nothing really stands up. The products are bigger and better quality and I have found myself using every box item, instead of just adding them to my giant bag of samples. I figured I might as well start reviewing them! I will add the link to Boxycharm at the end of this post. I have used each of these products at least once, so I will include a short review.

Eyes On 2016

Each box comes with a card like this that shows the basic theme of the box and any giveaways. The back of this card has a list and short description of each item and the price, which I love I wish ipsy would do the same! I will include the description and whether the product is full size or not.

Blinc Mascara Amplified ($26.00 Full Size)

What Boxycharm says:

“Coats lashes with a glossy, volumizing and extending application that forms tiny, water-resistant ‘tubes’ around the lashes. Applies like a traditional mascara, giving you the ability to add as many coats as you want to build your desired look!”

What I say:

I am not a huge mascara person, mostly because I constantly end up disappointed. I have very short, straight lashes that don’t do anything special ever. I have only worn this mascara once and it was actually quite nice! I curled my lashes before which always helps, but the tubing effect definitely made my lashes appear a little longer. It is quite odd when you remove it though because it comes out in little tubes and your heart skips a beat when you think for a second that your lashes are falling out.

Coastal Scents Revealed Smoky ($39.95 Full Size)

What Boxycharm says:

“Features 20 all-new, smoldering eye shadows in a dramatic variety of hues and textures.”

What I say:

This was the most exciting thing about the box this month for sure. I mean, a full eyeshadow palette? Yes please. This is my first of the Coastal Scents Revealed series so I don’t have much to compare it to, but I am impressed. This is very obviously a rip off of the Urban Decay Naked Smokey, but no harm no foul. Comparatively, I prefer my Naked shadows to these because some of these are a bit chalky, but that is easily looked over. I do like that the Revealed Smoky has a whole extra row of shadows to play with. I will be looking into the other Revealed Palettes after this because they seem to be good quality for a much cheaper price point than Urban Decay.

Royal & Langnickel Brush Set Revolution ($23.97 Full Size)

DSC_1636.JPGWhat Boxycharm says:

“Take your application to the next level. These breakthrough brushes feature %100 vegan, synthetic Natrafil fibers that mimic the performance and feel of fine, natural hair, for a flawless finish!”

What do I say:

Okay, I honestly no idea what Natrafil is. Whatever. These brushes are actually quite nice! They have the same matte black rubbery feel of NARS products and the bristles are relatively soft. I’m not a huge fan of synthetic brushes for my eyes just because I feel they don’t pick up enough product all the time, but I have loved using these with my cream shadows. They can be bought individually on the Royal & Langnickel website if any of them catch your eye in particular.

Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eye Liner Pen ($19.00 Full Size)

What Boxycharm says:

“This felt tipped pen makes it impeccably easy to create flawless eye lines of any variety.”

What I say:

I am not a huge liquid eyeliner person. I am clumsy and my eyes never look right with a huge sharp wing so I am no the end all be all authority on these kinds of products. This pen is one of the blackest I have ever attempted to use though, so that was nice. It got a little smudgy after an hour or so but I also rub my eyes like a maniac when I’m trying to write an 8 page chapter summary, so I digress.

This months box total came to $108.92, which is pretty awesome considering I only pay $21 a month for it! I can’t recommend this service enough, especially for adventurous people who want to mix it up every month.

Thanks for reading!

Glowingly yours,
