As the lovely month of February comes to a close, I thought I would reflect back on a review the products that I fell in love with this month. Without further ado, lets get started!
I have been using this foundation pretty much daily since getting it. This is my first and only cushion foundation (so far) and I absolutely love it. I have been alternating between patting it on with the puff and just dunking my beauty blender directly into it. It gives such a flawless, glowy finish without looking cakey. It is pretty sheer coverage but it can be built up some. The one downside to this is how expensive it is for a drugstore foundation. At almost $17, this comes close to mid end pricing.
I have had this blush forever but just recently started getting back into it. It is such a beautiful cool toned matte pink, and it is so flattering on many different skin tones. It blends beautifully and compliments a bunch of makeup looks from simple to dramatic.
So I saw these re-formulated blushes at the drugstore and I though I would try one out. I have heard that these are crazy pigmented so I bough the most natural shade I could find. This is a stunning peachy golden pink and yes, it is insanely pigmented. I can’t wait to pick up a few more of these, seeing as how they are only 3 bucks.
So this had been sold out on the Ulta website forever, so when I finally saw it come back in stock I had to grab it. This is supposedly a dupe for MAC’s Whisper of Guilt, a limited edition highlighter that people went crazy for. It is a true gold highlight. It can go on very opaque (like in the swatch) or it can be blended out to give just a light golden sheen to the cheekbones. It’s pretty tiny for $26, but it is so beautiful I can look past it.
I love hoarding single shadows, and finding one this stunning from the drugstore is such a score. I hadn’t heard much about these new shadows from Loreal, but when I saw them I figured I would grab one and try it out. I picked out Green Promenade, a beautiful silvery green. This looks so damn cool on the eyes. It can be packed on to really show off the green color, or blended out to show more of the silver. I love shadows that can look so different in so many ways.
People have been talking nonstop about the KVD Metal Crush shadows, mostly about Thunderstruck and Synergy. I have found a hidden treasure in one of the darker colors, Black No. 1. It is such a hard shade to explain, because I feel like every time I wear it it looks different. It is a black base with a crap ton of different colored glitters The fallout can be a little annoying, but most glitter shadows have that problem.
This is one of the shades in the Where The Light Is quad from Kathleen Lights. I love this shade so much, it looks so great by itself all over the lid, or concentrated in the outer corners. I usually pat this on with my fingers, then blend it out with a synthetic brush.
If I could collect one set of ridiculous things, it would be all of the Artist Shadows from MUFE. These are all so stunning, and it is so hard to just pick one to cough up the 21 dollars for. This shade really called out to me though, and as soon as I watched it in the store, I knew it had to be mine. I really love taupey, purple-ish shades lately, and this shadow has all that with a touch of light brown thrown in. The day that I got this shadow, it was my roommate’s sorority formal, and I used this shade on four different people, and it looked great/different on them all.
I have had this quad buried in the back of my palette drawer for way too many months now. I never really reached for it, and completely forgot that I had it, until earlier this month when I cleaned everything out. The first matte cream shade is kind of crappy and barely shows up, and the last shade (olive green) can be a bit patchy. The real heroes of this palette are the true yellow gold and the bronze. Look how crazy smooth and silky they look! These blend like butter, and go so well together.
So I really am not a huge liquid liner person. The shape of my eyes makes winged liner damn near impossible, but this changed my mind. I love how opaque and easy this liner is to use. I usually use this with some scotch tape to keep the lines crisp. I tried to colored versions of these are they are just not nearly as good.
This month I have a renewed love of lip gloss. With the weather changing my lips have been way too dry for liquid lipsticks, so just throwing on a gloss before I go out makes life so much easier. Buxom is pretty well known for their lip glosses, and I can see why. This color is such a stunning nude pink that pairs perfectly with any look. These glosses are somewhat sticky, but nothing too bad, and they have a refreshing minty, tingly feel on the lips. I am saving up my money to buy more of these because they are so great.
I got this gloss after searching for a while for the perfect nude gloss to wear over my NARS Audacious lipstick in Raquel. I saw Kathleen Lights wearing this and thought I would check it out next time I was in Sephora. It is such a pretty pink nude, with no shimmer or glitter. It looks great by itself or over matte nude lip colors. And for only $12 it is easier to imagine collecting them all.
I love collecting mini perfumes. I find them to be so cute and I love how they look on my vanity. I bought this little guy at Anthropologie a while back and never really used it much until this month. It is pretty difficult to describe a perfume with words, but just know this is a super warm, deep scent. It lasts so long on my skin, which is something really important to me in a scent. Also, I am obsessed with the bottle, especially the gold details on the lid. Tocca has a bunch of different scents in bottles like this, so if you love the bottle but aren’t sure about this scent, rest assured you will find one for you.
My boyfriend John got me three of these mini candles from Anthropologie for Christmas this year, and of the three this one is my favorite. It smells so delicate and beautiful, and really fills the room despite its size. Also, the jar and the lid are so beautiful, I love how these look in my room! I can’t wait to pick up the full size of this soon.
Let me know what you were loving in February! Thanks for reading!!
