Nothing in make-up is more recognizable than the black MAC lipstick bullet. For the first year that I was getting into make-up, my boyfriend couldn’t tell anything apart, except for my MAC products. MAC has such an amazing range of lipsticks, and they are constantly adding new colors. There are so many different finishes and shades, it is next to impossible not to find one that works for you. I also like that they are on the cheaper side, considering the quality. I only have a few, but these are my tried and true favorites. Enjoy!
Honey Love (Matte)
This is one of the lightest nude lip colors that I have. I bought this in conjunction with the lip pencil in Soar after reading that Kylie Jenner was known for wearing the two. Say what you will about her, she always has killer make up. On it’s own I can’t really wear this shade because it looks almost like concealer, but it is the perfect lip color to mix with different lip liners and glosses. Lately I have been wearing it with my MAC lip liner in Hover, which deepens it and gives it a bit more of a 90’s brown hue. If you love mixing lipstick and glosses, this is the perfect lipstick for you.
Velvet Teddy (Matte)
This is, hands down, my favorite MAC product that I own. It might be in my top 5 favorite products ever. It is the absolute perfect nude lip on me. My lips are very pigmented on their own, and my skin is very cool toned, so finding the right nude has always been a pain in the ass. I either look dead or like I rubbed foundation all over my mouth. This color is so flattering on literally everyone I have ever seen wearing it. It has a rosy, almost brown undertone that pairs amazingly with any eye look. Whenever anyone asks me what lipstick they should purchase, I always recommend this one. If MAC ever discontinues this shade I might just give up on make up completely.
This is my favorite shade to throw in my purse when I’m running late. Since it is a more sheer formula, it is easy to apply and reapply on the go. It pulls very pink on me, which most lipsticks do, but I love the way this looks. My only wish is that this would last longer on my lips, but rarely do you see a non-mate finish lip product that lasts a long time.
Russian Red (Matte)
This was the first lipstick I ever bought. I have since repurchased it since my other one was so old, but it is such a classic I had to. I rarely wear red lip stick (unless it’s game day here in Tuscaloosa), but I think it is so important to have that one red that always looks good on you. I love more blue-based reds because they make my teeth look much whiter. This formula doesn’t tug at all and feels very comfortable on my lips.
Ruby Woo (Retro Matte)
This is one of my favorite reds to wear, even though it is drying as hell. The retro matte formula from MAC is crazy dry but lasts forever on the lips. This red is a lot more bright and pink than Russian Red. As you can see from the swatch, this color drags and tugs at the skin and lips since it is so dry, so I much prefer applying it with a lip brush and only using it straight from the tube to pat more color on the center of my lips.
Viva Glam Miley Cyrus 2 (Matte)
I picked this up on a whim when I saw it in a MAC store replacing some eye shadows. I have always loved the Viva Glam program, and I try to buy from that line before any other. All of the proceeds go to AIDS research, and I love how it really celebrates individuals, both men and women. This color is a stunning orange red matte, which I think is perfect for warmer weather. This feels very comfortable on the lips, and lasts a long time.
Viva Glam Rihanna 2 (Frost)
This looks totally unwearable, and I agree, but I just had to have it. I love Rihanna, I think she is so bomb. She is one of those women who is so un-apologetically herself, that you just can’t help but be on her team. I have had this color for a while now, and I actually like using it as almost a lipstick topper. I will put some on my finger and pat it into the center of my lips to give some definition and change up a look.
