When I heard about and saw swatches of the new limited edition highlight powders from this summer collection, I immediately became anxious. I never get limited edition items before they blow up and sell out, and I figured these would be the same. I tried all the drug stores near me in Tuscaloosa with no luck, and I had all but given up. When my boyfriend and I were driving through the middle-of-nowhere Virginia on our way to Philly, I asked to stop in a small Rite Aid to pick up some candy. I walked in and lo and behold, there was the entire collection untouched and mine for the taking. I grabbed what caught my eye, then saw that all Wet N Wild products were 40% off, so I grabbed a few more things. I was beside myself with excitement and the man at the register must’ve thought I was insane. Needless to say, I forgot the candy.
I really only planned on grabbing the powder highlights and maybe a lipstick, but I found myself oddly drawn to this, and I figured with the sale, why not? I love using cream highlighters underneath powder ones to really make them stand out and last. This gives a really pretty sheen, but I wish it dried down a little more. I have to set it with powder if I don’t want my hair to stick to it on my face.
Metallic lipsticks are on the rise, and I love that Wet N Wild has gotten ahead of the trend. There are a few really beautiful colors in this collection, but I only grabbed the one I was most likely to wear as they are all very bright. I love the gold shift in this shade, I like to use this on the center of my lips with a matte pink lipstick to add dimension. This doesn’t fully dry down on me, so I consider this more of a gloss than a liquid lipstick, but it is beautiful none the less. I may pick up some of the crazier colors if I run into them again because I think the metallic shifts are such a fun spin on a regular lip color.
And now on to the product I was really searching for. These highlighting powders are so stunning to look at with their pretty flower stamp, I almost hate to stick my finger/brush into it. This gives such a stunning pinky gold sheen to the cheeks and face, and lasts all day. This is the darker of the two shades, and may be almost too dark or pink for some to use as a highlight, but it could be used as an awesome blush topper.
This one is for sure my favorite of the two highlights. It is a perfectly delicate golden pink color that looks so icy and intense on the skin. I love using the on top of the Highlighting Stick in Marigold Round because it makes it stand out and last so insanely long on me. I love that even though these are limited edition and amazing quality, they are still so affordable, and usually on sale. Wet N Wild is such a great brand, and I hope they keep coming out with cool new collections that people go crazy for!
