I just got my Boxy Charm, it usually isn’t this late but now that I have it, let’s get into a quick first impressions review!
Girls Just Wanna Have Sun
When I see the word shimmer, I automatically assume that it is a highlighter. When I opened this and saw how straight up yellow it was, I knew it would never work as one. I reread the box insert more closely to see that it is less of a specific highlight, and more of an all over shimmer, for both the face and body. When swatched, a lot of the intense yellow color goes away, leaving a yellow/gold shimmer. I am not a big body glitter person (I have never found a way to get it permanently out of whatever clothes I am wearing at the time of application), but I figure I can find a use for this.
This was the thing I was most excited for in this months box. Lately I have been all about hydrating skincare, especially now that the heat and humidity are beginning to take their toll. Sheet masks are such a fun, easy way to deliver the ingredients of a face mask. As soon as I got my box, I slapped one of these on and sat for 25 minutes. It was very cooling and soothing, and felt very luxurious on my face. After I removed the sheet mask, I slowly massaged the excess product into my skin. The next morning when I woke up, my face still felt soft and plump! I am slowly amassing a collection of sheet masks, and I really feel that a lot of high end skin care companies will be coming out with them soon.
While I do love this brand, I am not a huge liquid liner/black wing girl. Every now and then I get the feeling for one, and when I do, I need to use something that is precise and easy to use. I am not nearly delicate enough to pull off a perfect wing with just anything. This glides on very smooth and opaque. I wish it dried a little faster, but once it does, it does not budge. I will compare this to my Stila Stay All Day Liner and my mini sample of KVD’s Trooper Liner and report back.
I always love getting full size nail polishes in my box, especially stunning colors like this. These pastel/light shades are my favorite to wear over the summer, especially when I get a little more tan. My nails were bare when I got my box, so I applied a few coats of this. The formula is really nice and easy to work with, and the brush is easy to use. I have only had it on for a day, so I can’t really speak to it’s longevity and if it chips easily.
If I am being completely honest, I am pretty over all the Ofra products. Don’t get me wrong, I love the brand and the products I have from them, but it feels like there is one in every box. I subscribe to these kinds of boxes to try out brands I wouldn’t normally see or hear about, or kinds of products I wouldn’t go near usually. Anyway, this product is actually very nice. The compact is large and seems like it holds a lot of product. This is meant to blot and control oily, which is something I am always looking for. I get very oily in my t-zone, so something like this would be great to throw in my backpack or purse for mid-day touch ups. The powder is very finely milled and feels very silky. This is pretty white, but blends away to a transparent layer on the skin. I am interested to see if this has bad flashback in photos because of how white it is.
Let me know how you felt about your box this month! Thanks for reading!
