The Loaded Bolds
Being a huge fan of the Maybelline Creamy Mattes, I grabbed a few of these when I first saw them on display at my CVS. Instead of grabbing the pink shades that I always gravitate towards, I decided on two shades a bit out of my comfort zone. I was hoping to be blown away by the colors, but as of now I am a bit underwhelmed. Let’s get into it.
Midnight Blue
I’ve always wanted to be the gutsy girl with the navy blue lipstick, and I thought this drugstore choice could help ease me into it. I was sadly mistaken. Swatched the color is stunning and pigmented, and I couldn’t wait to get it onto my face. As you can see though, this refuses to apply opaque at all. This lip swatch was taken after applying at least 5 layers trying to get the patches to disappear, which obviously did not happen. Maybe one day I’ll find a more inspiring blue shade, and when that day comes I will toss this in the trash.
Gone Greige
After being so let down by the blue shade, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this lipstick. This applied very opaque and creamy, and it didn’t feather or bleed at all. This stayed on my lips for a good while before I needed to reapply, but it did smear a bit when I ate. In the tube it appears much more grey than it looks on my lips, which I prefer. This shade has inspired me to maybe purchase a few more from this line!
Price
$7.49
Not too expensive, but expensive enough that I don’t currently own them all!
Let me know if you’ve found the blue lipstick I am searching for.
Glowingly yours,
Jess
I loved the second lip shade so much. Perfect for everyday wear. Great post
