The UnBasic Basics
The theme of this month’s box is unbasic basics, and I really just take that to mean “hey were just gonna put a few random things in this box okay?” Don’t get me wrong though, I love getting a box of mid to high end make up monthly, theme or no theme. While this isn’t the best box I’ve ever gotten, I still enjoyed quite a few of the items. Let’s get into a little review!
A Little Pink-Me-Up
I’ve been eying these lipsticks for a while now, and I’m so happy I can finally try one out! I love lipsticks that are a very subtle wash of color. They are the best for throwing in your purse because they are so easy to reapply throughout the day. I was a tiny bit disappointed by this product though. Maybe it’s because I threw this on without trying or moisturizing my lips, but this settled into every single line on my lips in an odd way. The color itself is a really adorable baby pink shade, so hopefully I can work with this a little more and get it to look nice.
A True Work of Arch
I find it hard to get very excited about a brow gel honestly. My brows pretty much stay put because I trim them often. That being said, this is a pretty nice brow gel. My main problem with gels are how they can make my eyebrows look crunchy very easily. This gel does a very good job of looking natural and drying down without looking too shiny. The downside to this product though is the price. I cannot justify spending over 20 bucks on a a brow gel, but that’s just me.
Drop It Bright Now
I was really excited to get this, because I am always looking for a good, lightweight daytime moisturizer. This product is very thin and doesn’t feel heavy on my face at all. It dries pretty fast and provides a good amount of moisture. This sample size is pretty generous too which is great. I love Dr. Jart+ face products, the brand is very skin care based, but they keep in mind that their product has to sit well under makeup.
Style You Were Sleeping
I put this mask in my dry hair (just the ends) last night before bed and slept with it in. After I washed it out this morning, my ends were noticeably less frayed and brittle. I want to see if this lasts a day or two more though, because plenty of hair masks make a difference for a few hours and not much more. Every Living Proof product I’ve ever tried has really impressed me, so I will probably considering buying the full size version of this product once I finish this little tube.
All Fleur The Best
I am usually indifferent about tiny perfume samples, and after I spray them once I store them in a little drawer where they sit forever untouched. Today though I thought I would test this scent out and I sprayed it all over the clothes in my closet and shut the door to let everything soak up the floral scent. I actually really love the smell of this scent! It smells like flowers, but not in an old lady kind of way. I think I might ask my boyfriend for the full size bottle of this for my birthday this year!
Ink About It
A cult classic eye liner! What could be better? I have been wanting to try out this super popular liquid liner for ages, but could never justify buying it since I rarely do winged liner. I have pretty shaky hands, so I mess up a million times, but this was actually pretty easy to use. It dries quickly and pretty matte, and the thin tip makes it easy to create a really crisp line. The most noticeable thing about this liner though is how it really stays put. A lot of liquid liners bleed on my skin, but this doesn’t budge at all!
All in all, this box was pretty good. My favorite items were the Tory Burch perfume and the KVD liner. Let me know how you liked your box this month! Also, if you have any of these products, let me know your thoughts on them!
