So I haven’t worn much make up this month, so when I went to collect my monthly favorites, nothing really stood out. In place of my monthly favorites post, I decided to do an updated drugstore favorites! I’ve broken it down into product categories, so I will talk about my favorite foundation, favorite concealer, etc. Let’s get started!
I bought this primer after hearing multiple people say it was a cheap alternative to the Hourglass Veil Mineral primer, which I love. While I don’t really think this is a perfect dupe for the Hourglass primer, it is a great product by itself. This keeps my makeup looking vibrant all day, and it doesn’t look greasy or feel heavy on the skin. This stuff does seem a bit pricey for a drugstore product, but I think it is worth it.
I have gone through a few bottles of this stuff. This is the foundation I reach for day to day when I am going to class or getting lunch. It sits really beautifully on my skin, it doesn’t emphasize any dry patches or separate around my nose or forehead. They recently added a pump, which makes it that much better!
This is a really great concealer for the under eye area. It doesn’t look flakey or dry on me, which most concealers do. This lasts all day without creasing and it never oxidizes on me. I actually prefer to blend this out with my fingers, it looks more natural.
I just recently made a whole post dedicated to this powder, which you can check out here if you want. Long story short, this is a great oil control product, and I never leave the house without dusting a bit of it on my forehead.
I also have a separate post for this blush here. This little guy is so vibrant and affordable, and it actually lasts longer on me than some of my high end blushes.
I have talked about this bronzer a hundred times, and for a good reason: it’s the perfect bronzer for me. The undertone is neutral to give the look of a tan without looking orange. The finish isn’t matte, but it doesn’t have chunks of glitter that emphasize any texture on the skin. I reach for this before any of my high end bronzers.
I am so happy that Wet N Wild brought these back! These are some of the best highlights out there period. This shade is a really beautiful gold with a tiny hint of rosiness in it. The texture of these is not quite like a powder, it reminds me a lot of the MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinishes and the Laura Geller Baked Gelato highlights.
This is my favorite glitter primer I own, because nothing works as well. I like to pat this on my entire lid and then press any glittery or metallic shadows on top. This keeps whatever shadow I put over it vibrant and crease free until I talk it off. I also love the foiled packaging!
I bought this because everyone was saying it was a perfect dupe for MAC’s Tan pigment. I absolutely love everything about this shadow. The formula of these are halfway between a loose pigment and a pressed shadow, so they are much easier to work with than a loose powder. This looks like melted metal on the lids, and it lasts all day/night. This color is a lovely, classic rose gold shade, and it is flattering on everyone with any look.
Eye Shadow Palette
Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Trio in Plaid To The Bone $3.99
I just recently found this holday shadow trio on sale at my CVS, and I am already loving it. Wet N Wild has always made my favorite shadow formula at the drugstore, and the best part is that they are usually also the cheapest. All three shades in this trio are really unique and pigmented as ever. The first shade is the perfect all over the lid taupe color. The middle matte navy blue is so vibrant, and the last is an amazing duochrome peacock shimmer. I am not sure if this is still available, but if you see it you should grab it!
I have worn these almost daily for over a year since I first bought them. These are gel pencils, so no sharpening and no tugging on the lid. The only downside to these is that they only come in two colors. I am thinking of starting a petition to get NYX to make these in every color possible, wanna sign?
I am lazy, so I love a good brow mascara for day to day use. Essence is one of my new favorite drugstore brands because of how great their products are for such a low price. This brow gel, aside from needing to come in more colors, has no downside. This shade is considerably ashy though, so if you have a red tint to your brunette, maybe pick a different shade.
I am always trying new drugstore mascaras, because I am never satisfied with whatever one I have. This is my favorite of all the ones I’ve tried because it doesn’t clump at all and it holds a good curl. I also love the want because it is skinny enough to use on my lower lashes without smudging.
I did a review on these Creamy Matte Lipsticks a while back, and this shade is my favorite of the four that I own. The formula of these stays put without drying out my lips, and the color is very flattering to my skin tone. I love to mix this with Clay Crush, which is a few shades lighter, to make a really subtle nude lip.
I have four of these Liquid Suede lipsticks, but this is the only nude shade, the other three are very bright and crazy. This color is so close to the real color of my lips, so it fades really nicely and never looks odd or overdone. These aren’t insanely matte, so it doesn’t dry my lips out at all.
Milani makes great lip products, and these wind up lip liners are no exception. This shade pairs really nicely with a lot of different colors. It is only a tiny bit darker than my real lip color, so I can use this to slightly overdraw my lower lip if I want my lips to look a little fuller. This formula glides really easily so no tugging or dryness.
The NYX Intense Butter Glosses are probably my all time favorite drugstore lip product out there. I love the regular Butter Lip Glosses for a nice wash of color, but these pack an intense amount of pigment. The formula of these reminds me of the Anastasia Beverly Hills lip glosses that I love so much. This color is a a classic, neutral toned nude/pink that applies opaque in one swipe.
Let me know your favorite drugstore products in your collection!
