Make Up On Pointe
I know, I know, why am I posting a December box in January? Well I get my boxes delivered to my school address, but I spent most of last month at home in Philly. I only recently was able to open the box and use the items. I didn’t want to review anything until I had used it a few times. I will probably honestly post my January box today or tomorrow as well, so be on the lookout for that.
“A palette featuring 12 wearable shades inspired by the popular smokey eye trend.”
We all know what this is meant to mimic; the Naked 3 palette from Urban Decay. I had that palette a while back and the quality just wasn’t doing it for me, so I gave it away. I was excited to try this out and see if it was comparable at all. The quality of the shadows impressed me a lot more than the Urban Decay one did, that’s for sure! The downside to this though is the price. At 50 bucks, it isn’t really a great alternative for the original Naked 3, but it performs much better for me, so I am happy to add it to my collection. The color scheme is really lovely, it is filled with a lot of rose golds and purples. I have swatched each shade below!
(Quartz, Sahara, Mesa)
(Dune, Mojave, Sandstone)
(Clay, Canyon, Desert)
(Dust, Barren, Mirage)
“An 8-free lacquer in a heavily pigmented colour & finish”
I love Butter London nail polishes, everything from the formula to the packaging feels high end and luxurious. This color is a stunning deep red, perfect for the winter months. These polishes don’t chip on me for a good while, and they apply opaque with two coats every time.
“Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick is a one step full lip color that does not feather. The creamy and soft texture moisturizes your lips while creating a long lasting lipstick effect. Contains antioxidants and vitamin E.”
While I love Ofra Liquid Lipsticks, this one just isn’t my favorite. The formula is great as usual, the color just looks odd on me. It’s a metallic grey purple, but it just looks kind of dirty on me. I might pass this along to someone else. I think this color would look really beautiful on deeper skin tones.
“The makeup eraser removes 100% of your makeup using only water!”
I always thought this product was a bit gimmicky, which is why I never purchased it, but I was kind of excited to see it in the box. The fabric itself is very soft, which makes it perfect for using on the delicate eye area. This removes make up well enough, but I have only tried it with minimal eyeliner and mascara, not with anything heavy like a smokey eye.
“A contouring lipliner that helps you achieve that perfectly defined pout. Designed to enhance the natural shape of the lip, this water-resistant lip liner is great for lining.”
I find it very hard to get excited about lip liner if I’m being honest. This is a really lovely beet red color, and it stays put for a good while. It is pretty dry though, like most wooden pencil liners tend to be.
Box Total: 110.90
I’ve had better boxes, but this wasn’t bad by any means. I am most excited about the eye palette, and I will most likely be doing a more in depth review of each shade soon. Let me know what you got in your box and how you liked it!
