I was reorganizing my collection the other day when I got the idea to do a post all about my favorite foundations for my skin type. I have combination skin, which means I get very oily in my t zone, but also dry in random places. I have larger pores around my nose, so I need a foundation that can work with all of this. I usually find myself combining foundations to cover all my issues, but every now and then I find a foundation that can do it all. Here are my 6 favorite foundations!
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation
I have gone through more bottles of this than any other product, it is my all time favorite foundation. It has pretty medium coverage, but it can be built up. It never looks caked on or overdone, and it pairs nicely with whatever primer I use underneath it. I usually only need two pumps to get my whole face, so the bottle lasts me a while. A few years back MUFE reformulated, and I like the new formula much better than the old. Another great thing about this foundation is how amazing it looks in pictures. Because it has no SPF in it, it doesn’t cause any flashback or a white cast.
Finish
Medium coverage, semi-matte finish
Best Applied With
Beauty Blender/Make up sponge
Price
$43.00
This seems pretty expensive for 1 oz of product, but I promise it’s worth it!
Make Up For Ever Face & Body Liquid Make Up
What can I say, Make Up For Ever makes a damn good foundation! This is a very sheer, watery formula, but it can be built up to an almost medium coverage. This is my favorite every day foundation, because it is so natural looking. I can pile this on and it never looks cakey or pilled. Unfortunately, MUFE discontinued this product and replaced it with the Water Blend Face and Body foundation. I haven’t tried that yet, but people seem to like it a lot less than this.
Finish
Sheer coverage, satin finish
Best Applied With
Kabuki or stippling brush
Price
$43.00
This is pretty much the standard price for any Make Up For Ever foundation, and I really do think they are worth the money.
Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Water Foundation
I picked this up thinking it would be a good replacement for the MUFE Face & Body whenever I ran out. While they have a very similar consistency, the finish is much more matte and opaque. This has SPF in it, making it great for day wear, but not the best for a night out. I love the dropper applicator because it makes getting the perfect amount super easy. This lasts all day on me even though it is extremely watery.
Finish
Sheer to medium coverage, satin matte finish
Best Applied With
Kabuki brush
Price
$39.00
This is more on the pricey side, but it is very worth it.
Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer
I have really only been using this the past few weeks, but it is already a new favorite. This is the foundation I wear when I need a lot of coverage but I still want a natural look. Rarely do I like high coverage face products because they break up quickly and end up looking odd. This actually lasts a long time on my face, and when it starts to fade, it looks like skin. One of my favorite things about this product is that I can use it as under eye concealer also, which makes it perfect for traveling.

Medium to full coverage, matte finish

This is what I love about Clinique, they keep their prices on the lower side, especially compared to everything else at Sephora.
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation
Rarely am I impressed by any drugstore foundations that claim to be poreless, but this one surprised me. I’ve always been a fan of the Fit Me formula from Maybelline, and this one is the best in my opinion. This keeps my face from looking greasy without looking flat or cakey. This doesn’t oxidize on me, which most drugstore foundations tend to do. I love pairing this with a luminous primer to soften up the matteness.

Revlon ColorStay Makeup for Normal/Dry Skin
This is my all time favorite drugstore foundation, and it has been for a few years. This is the formulation for normal to dry skin, but it isn’t overly moisturizing or luminizing. I like this so much because it never accentuates my pores or dry patches, which very few products can do. They just recently added a pump, making this virtually perfect.
