With Fall quickly approaching, I find myself returning back to my cozy comfort zone: nudes, browns, and golds for the eyes. When it comes to the more extreme side of cold weather shadows (berry reds, peach creases), it can be hard to find your exact skin tone match. This is why I always suggest a well rounded warm palette, so you can truly play around and find your perfect color combo. Enter the Warm Neutrals palette from NYX. A bit on the pricy side for a drugstore item, but when you consider you are getting 16 standout shadows all in one place, you hand over the cash.
I had heard rumors that while the mattes in this palette were amazing, the shimmers left a lot to be desired. Maybe it’s because I waited for a good long time after its release (a possible reformulation?) but I have found the shimmers and metallics to be on par with the mattes.
So why is this palette worth the money? Surely there are other products out there with this many shadows at a comparable price, right? Yes, but I really feel that this palette covers all the warm bases. I never need to reach for a second palette to find the shade I need, everything is right there! It has cream mattes for setting the eye and highlighting the brow bone, a slew of crease and transition shades, lots of shimmers for all over the lid, and some deeper hues to deepen up the eye look in the outer corner. Great for traveling and compact enough to fit in any makeup bag, I say go for it and spend the money!
Now I will say, because the mattes are so smooth and soft, there can be a good amount of kick up and fallout, so I suggest doing your eye makeup before the face when using this. I prefer using a pretty sticky eye base with this, because it really keeps the shimmers opaque and vibrant all day long. If you have been searching for your perfect warm fall palette, then I seriously suggest giving this a try!
