Once a year, the Sephora subscription box goes luxe, and this was the first year I decided to partake. While the usual box costs only $10, this luxury sample bag costs $20, but promises to include the highest quality samples. I chose which edition I wanted, but got sent the other one instead (this seemed to happen to a lot of people) but I was happy with what I got. Let’s get into a quick review of each sample in the box!
This lipstick mini from Giorgio Armani really surprised me! I am usually somewhat disappointed when another mini is a red shade, but this turned out to be a glossy berry color perfect for the colder weather. Because of the shine, this lipstick feels comfortable and moisturizing on the lips, but it lacks to staying power of a more matte finish.
Is there anything more needlessly luxurious than a Givenchy lip balm? I think not. While I would never spend almost $40 for a name brand chapstick, I am very happy to have this little sample to throw in my purse. I am also a sucker for anything millennial pink, so that might have something to do with it.
A substantial sized sample of a primer I would never consider shelling out the cash for? Yes please! I haven’t used this oil based blurring primer yet, but I will be back with a more in depth review once I do. Filled with tiny flecks of golden shimmer, not only is this supposed to minimize the appearance of pores, but also luminize and brighten up the complexion.
This was the product I was most intrigued by, simply because I still have very little idea how exactly I want to incorporate it into my skincare routine. The downside to having such a large sample of this product is that I have the potential to fall totally in love with it, then have my heart broken by the insane price tag. Korean Beauty is known for having the best anti-aging products, so I know this will impress me.
Imagine my shock and happiness to find the holy grail of skincare just sitting in my $20 box. La Mer face cream has always been my reach dream (aka one day I will be able to buy as many jars as I want with no regard for the price) so getting a taste of the good life has me hooked. I am almost so in love that I have been avoiding using any more, preferring to save it for the most luxurious self spa nights.
Every Sephora Play! box includes a perfume sample, but this one is really impressive. Much bigger than the typically tiny vials, this ultra-expensive perfume is worth more than the box as a whole. Carmin Pure is such a sexy scent, with Bergamot and Sandalwood giving the perfect mix of woodsy and feminine. While I could never hope to own the full bottle in the near future, I will use this little spray sparingly until that time comes.
Let me know if you got this box and what your thoughts were!
