This year I really tried my hardest to resist the temptation of all the amazing Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals in the beauty world. I was doing great until I got an email saying that all lip products from Dose of Colors were 40% off! the DoC liquid lipstick formula is my current favorite, but the price tag has kept me from collecting more than a few here and there. When I saw this sale, I added all my dream colors to my cart and checked out before the best shades sold out like they always do. Here are some swatches of each shade and my thoughts on the best way to wear them!
“dusty pink mauve”
Stone has been my most elusive make up wish list item, and I finally got my hands on it! Dose of Colors often has some good sales or deals on lip products, but every time I get to the website, Stone is sold out! Now that I have it, I can totally understand why. This is my perfect mauve lip, everything from the formula to the undertone is absolutely perfect. This color goes with so many different eye looks, and can be modified by a lip liner or gloss easily. Now that I have worn this, I realize I should have just bought it at full price a long time ago!
“warm rusty orange”
Burnt orange shades are my weakness, and I have had my eye on this shade since it came out. I find these colors so flattering and interesting, I much prefer them on myself to a true red lipstick. In the Fall and Winter, you can be sure to find a few of these shades floating around in my purse at all times!
“coffee n’ cream nude beige”
No one does a nude/brown quite like Dose of Colors! Truffle, Cork, and now this perfect day to day brown Knock on Wood. While Cork has a more yellow tinge, this is a neutral brown that flatters every skin tone. Brown lips are back, and while a dark chocolate shade is just too ambitious for me, this hot chocolate hue is just right.
When I think of bold red lips, I prefer something with either an orange or a pink undertone. This electric coral shade demands attention, and I cannot wait to wear it as soon as the weather starts to warm up! Combine this shade with bronzed skin, lashes and little else for a low effort summer look. Add a clear gloss on top to freshen up the look as well!
And here we are, back to my burnt orange obsession. While Old Flame is a true orange, this shade has a rosier undertone, making it perfect for all seasons. I love terra cotta lips like this combined with a deep bronze eye and lots of bronzer. I can also mix this with Coral Crush if I want to tone the neon down a bit.
“fiery orange red”
This lipstick is my ideal orange red shade, and I am counting down the days until the temperature rises above 60 degrees and I can start living in this color. This shade came out with the Desi x Katy collaboration, and it is such a show stopper. This, to me, is a more mature alternative to Coral Crush, and can punch up any neutral look.
“light peachy nude”
I never really saw myself spending money on anything from Dose of Colors that wasn’t a liquid lipstick, but I needed to get my hands on these two lipsticks from the collab. I hoard nude lipsticks like it’s my job, and this warm peach shade is my newest love! These have a matte cream finish, so they don’t look chalky or drying on the lips. I love mixing this color and the darker of the two together to get my perfect nude/brown lip.
“deeper nude with brown/peach undertone”
I know this color looks a bit odd swatched, but I promise it is so unique and cool on the lips. It reminds me a lot of the DoC liquid lipstick in Cork, but a bit lighter. This would be a perfect nude on a deeper skin tone, and I love that Desi and Katy gave everyone a nude in their collection. When this is looking a bit too warm on me, I like to mix it with No Shade or a more neutral lip liner.
If I am being honest, I already have my next round of liquid lipsticks waiting in my cart online, so let me know your favorites from Dose of Colors!
