Fenty Beauty has been the brand on everyone’s mind since its release in September, and for good reason. In every product released so far there has been a common theme: choices. The foundation shade range is extensive, and these new Mattemoiselle lipsticks have a wide range of colors to choose from. And while the navy blue and lavender colors caught my eye, I ended up going with colors that I would be much more likely to wear.
I was so surprised when I first swatched these, I was not expecting the insane pigmentation and creaminess they have. The color goes on smooth and opaque in one swipe, and it doesn’t look overly cracked and matte like some matte bullet lipsticks do. My only disappointment with these is the size. They are much smaller than I thought they would be, and you get a small amount of product for the price. That being said, I think the long lasting matte formula is one of the best I’ve ever tried in a lipstick. When the color does start to fade it looks like a natural stain on the lips. Let’s get into some swatches of each color!
I knew I wanted a nude from the line, because matte nudes are tricky to pull off in a creamy formula. This color is such a lovely salmon pink nude, not too much brown or taupe in it. so it doesn’t wash me out. It can look a little thick sometimes so to sheer it out I like to blot with some tissue paper or add a clear gloss on top.
Though you can usually find me in a nude lip colors, I have a special love affair with burnt orange browns, so when I saw this shade I had to have it. I tend to prefer a liquid lip formula when it comes to deep colors, but this lipstick is very easy to work with so I don’t have trouble getting any clean lines. I love pairing colors like this with a matte brown eye look and big full lashes. I think this color would look especially stunning on very tan to deep skin tones.
