And so begins a new year of Boxy Charm, and I have to say they really killed it with the first box of 2018! I have already used a few of these products since getting the box in the mail, so let’s just get right into a review of each item!
“Luminizer Primer delivers a natural radiant glow while blurring pores and imperfections for a beautifully illuminated flawless complexion.”
Any primer that claims to minimize my pores immediately grabs my attention, so when I saw this in the box I was so excited to try it. I wore it today to work and so far I am split. It definitely gives me a nice glow without making me look oily or too highlighted, but it doesn’t do as much for my pores as I would like. I did pair it with a pretty luminous foundation today so I’ll have to keep using it with different combinations to see how I really feel about it.
“Developed with plastic surgeons, IT Cosmetics’ #1 best-selling, award-winning eyebrow pencil is infused with brow-enhancing biotin, lecithin, saw palmetto, nettle, green tea, antioxidants, grape seed, and vitamins A, B5, C and E, plus proprietary Brow Power Technology to give you your most beautiful, natural looking brows – even if you have none at all. Plus, it’s universal transforming shade adjusts to all air colors based on pressure, its exclusive oval tip mimics the look of real hair and it includes a built-in grooming spooley brush for polished perfection!”
I know, that whole blurb is pretty intense and seems ridiculous for a little brow pencil, but after using this today I have to say I am really impressed. I have pretty thick brows so I don’t need a pencil for drawing on my brows so much as I just need a little filling in at times, and this pencil is perfect for that. I am always skeptical when a product claims to be a universal shade, but this color really does seem to flatter a lot of brow shades. I don’t really see it working for someone with extremely blonde brows, but the more pressure you apply the darker it looks, so it works on my very dark brown brows. Using this was so quick and easy, and my brows looked full but natural all day.
“Rock your look with the Crown Pro Glam Metals eyeshadow palette! These highly pigmented, ultra blendable shadows make smokey eye looks a breeze!”
The past few boxes have all included a palette of some sort, and I was surprised by how much I love the color scheme of this palette. This is a great palette to use in conjunction with an all matte palette, especially if you want a mix of cool and warm tone shimmers. Crown Pro is a pretty affordable brand, but these have the pigmentation of a mid to high end shadow, and they blend beautifully. I adore the shades Rock On and Punk!
“An on-the-go highlight, bronzer, and blush palette with three skin perfecting powders to create an effortless and sun-kissed glow on every skin tone. Featuring PUR’s fan favorite ‘Afterglow’ and ‘Mineral Glow’ along with a new blush shade, ‘Blushing Glow’ throw this in your bag and you’re ready to go!”
Two palettes in one box? I told you Boxy Charm was starting the year off with a bang! This cheek trio from PUR is so insanely pigmented, almost to a fault. The blush is very intense and glowy, so I need to use the lightest hand possible, and I will probably combine it with a matte blush to make everything look a little more natural. The highlight shade is my favorite in the palette, it is crazy intense and compliments so many different looks. The bronzer is very shimmery and warm which usually just looks muddy on me, so I will probably only use it as an eyeshadow or very sparingly in the summer to look a bit more tan.
“One of the original liquid lipstick formulas that is still true to it’s words – it’s lightweight, long wearing, non-cracking and won’t settle. For better application, do not apply a lip balm or lip primer before application.”
I actually already have and love this shade from Girlactik! The Matte Lip Paints are some of my favorite liquid lipstick formulas on the market, and I always recommend them to everyone. The formula is on the thicker side, but it never feels too thick or clumpy on the lips. Because of the moussey texture, this never feels drying even when worn without a balm underneath. This shade in Demure reminds me so much of Kat Von D’s Lolita, but it is much more opaque and wearable for me. If you hate very thin, watery liquid lipsticks, pick one of these up, you won’t regret it!
