Does Glossier really release a new product if I’m not here to gush about it? Up until now, Glossier’s skin care line has always been very simple, calming and gentle. As much as I love that, sometimes I need something a little more aggressive, especially when my cystic acne and large pores rear their ugly heads. Enter the Solution, a chemical exfoliant packed with AHA, BHA, and PHA, the only ingredients that truly matter in a non-physical exfoliator.

When I am shopping for acne treatments, there are three acids that I always look for: lactic acid, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid. Lactic acid helps in reducing sun and dark spots left behind from my naive days of no sunscreen. Glycolic acid separates the dead skin cells and removes them, leaving behind very toned, youthful looking skin. Salicylic acid is best at unclogging pores, reducing oils and minimizing acne overall. Solution delivers all these along with PHA (a more nourishing exfoliant), soothing aloe and calming niacinamide.

So far I am loving everything about this product, from its pretty pink packaging to its functional pump. I use this every night right after removing my makeup and cleansing. I use about two pumps on a cotton round and pat it gently all over my face. I follow up with whatever serum I am using, and the next morning my face looks noticeably softer and my makeup applies smoother. Though this is a relatively gentle product, it is not to be used more than once daily, because too much exfoliating can cause micro tears or irritation especially on sensitive skin. Also remember, if you are using a chemical exfoliant daily, you need to use sunscreen religiously! You are more prone to sun burn and sun damage immediately after applying a product like this, so I suggest using it at night before bed.

And the best part? The price of course. Most products with this many powerful ingredients end up costing an arm and a leg, but this is much more in my price range at $24. You get a good amount of product for your money and because you only need the tiniest bit for your whole face, I see this lasting me a good while.
