Finding a new brand to fall in love with is one of the best things about the giant make up market and community. As much as I am happy remaining loyal to my trusted brands, I am always picking up random items here and there to test out. A week or so ago this brand in particular caught my eye after seeing a few of their products pop up in some favorites videos, and I knew I had to try it out for myself.
The thing that sold me on Thrive Causemetics (besides the teal packaging) was their charitable promise:
“Thrive Causemetics is Beauty with a Purpose: for every product you purchase, we donate one to empower a woman thriving through cancer or domestic violence. We believe changing the world starts with a single ingredient, and that’s why we create vegan, 100% cruelty-free formulas containing proven ingredients without the use of parabens, sulfates, or toxins.”
Think of Thrive as the TOMS of your vanity, and I promise it will be so much easier to justify your online splurge. Anyway, let’s get into a review of the two products I have from the brand!
I have been on a mascara kick lately, and I wanted to try a tubing formula that wasn’t from Blinc. I have been trying to be more gentle with my lashes, but every night when I was off my makeup I feel like I end up taking half my lashes off with the mascara. Tubing formulas are extremely easy to remove without tugging or rubbing, I just soak a cotton round in remover and slowly soak the tiny tubes off.
This product in particular has really been impressing me, and that is rare for me with mascaras. I have very short, straight lashes so I am always looking for a formula that can give me both length and volume without the gross clump. This does all that and more! All I need is two coats and my lashes look long, thick and surprisingly natural. I was worried that a tubing formula wouldn’t last long or would flake off noticeably on my face, but this lasts all day long on me!
This was the product that first introduced me to the brand, and though I have only been using it for a week or so, it has quickly jumped to the top of my bronzer list. I am fair with pink undertones, so I am constantly being let down by bronzers that are just too red or too gray. When I find a matte product that is perfectly balanced between the two, I cannot help but fall in love! This shade is my perfect multi-purpose bronzer, neutral enough for contouring but not too gray to use on the rest of the face.
The formula on this is matte, but it has the slightest satin hint, so it never looks chalky or flat. The powder is incredibly buttery and smooth, so application is a breeze and it always looks natural and blown out. While it is pigmented, it is difficult to go overboard, so it can work for experts and beginners alike. The thing that impressed me the most though was the lasting power! This product stays vibrant all day no matter what foundation or primer I use underneath it. When it does begin to fade, it doesn’t look patchy or dry, just like a natural tan fading away.
Let me know if you’ve tried anything else from this brand and your suggestions on what I should try next!
