We are at the point in the year when the cold weather starts to subside, and the odd months of randomly hot days begin. I’m not sure about you, but my skin can sometimes have a bit of a freak out when it goes from a snow day to 60 degrees in 24 hours. Here are some of the products and trends I am looking forward to embracing in the coming weeks, let’s get started!
The Youthful Foundation
This new foundation from Marc Jacobs has me really intrigued, mostly because of it’s no nonsense packaging and use of the word youthful. The warmer it gets, the younger I tend to feel, so why shouldn’t my foundation match? The best part about this product is that despite it’s lightweight feel, it is meant to be long lasting.
The Waterproofing Drops
April showers are fast approaching, and the rainier it gets, the less likely it is for my make up look to survive the day. These affordable drops are meant to be mixed in with your foundation to make it waterproof and long lasting, perfect to add to that luminous sheer tinted moisturizer that just doesn’t last all day.
The Stick Highlight
Cream highlights are my favorite, and these sticks from Hourglass are absolutely stunning. All you need to do is swipe a bit on each cheekbone, blend with your fingers, a damp sponge or a synthetic fiber brush, then enjoy all day wear! The cream formula is perfect for both cold weather dryness and hot weather smudging.
The Taupe Top Coat
As much as I love matte eye looks, lately I have been loving to add just a touch of shimmer to my lids. These eye top coats from Natasha Denona have been on everyone’s favorites list, and I was most intrigued by this shade. Somewhere between warm and cool eye looks sits this taupe was of shimmer. Colors like this are my go-to for transitional months, and they can be paired with any kind of lip color.
The Double Ended Lip Pencil
I have been super into lip liners lately, I find them super easy to apply and they last all day on me. A double ended product like this is perfect to throw in your purse and you get two shades and finishes for the price of one. This liner from Soap & Glory caught my eye because not only is it two different colors, one side has a matte finish while the other is a more glossy formula.
The Invisible Sunscreen
While I don’t need to remind you that sunscreen is a must every day no matter the time of year, the warmer it gets the more likely we all are to spend time outside. Even during the cloudy weeks coming up, I need to always be sure to apply my SPF. Wearing a thick sunscreen underneath my make up at work can make me look greasy and cakey, so I need a product like this that delivers protection without the weight.
The Facial Essence
Warmer weather means I trade it my thick hydrating skin care items for more lightweight products like this. An essence is a great way to add healthy ingredients to your skin without slathering on thick oils and serums. Warm some of this up in your hands and pat it all over the face in the morning before make up or at night after cleansing.
The Jelly Cleanser
Now don’t think that just because I’m cycling out my heavy moisturizers I am completely giving up on hydrating my skin! I love switching to a jelly based cleanser like this one when the weather turns. Cleansers like this really clean my skin without stripping it and leaving it dried out. And these are the best at removing make up, especially the long lasting waterproof formulas I will start to use more of.
The Hair Gloss
Shiny hair is healthy hair, and my color treated hair can sometimes look dull and lifeless. A hair gloss like this is perfect for adding shine and dimension to your hair without a trip to the salon. I already have heavy, thick hair so I am always looking for a product like this that can deliver results without weighing down my strands.
The Pillow Spray
And finally, something to put me to sleep! I have always had trouble getting enough sleep, and the stress of the winter months is finally starting to subside. I always feel better as the weather gets warmer, and I am hoping to really take advantage of that to get some more sleep. A relaxing pillow spray like this is great because not only does it calm you down, the ingredients are good for your skin as well, so you can spray it all over the pillow without worrying about break outs.
Let me know your transitional months must haves!
