A Few New Bases Worth Trying Out

afewnewbasestotryout

Trying out new foundations is one of my absolute favorite makeup related activity. I have combination skin (oily t-zone with random dry spots around my chin and forehead) so finding the perfect foundation that can keep me matte without drying me out is always an adventure. I have a few new products that I have been testing out, and I wanted to share my thoughts about them with you all, let’s get started!

Sunday Riley The Influencer Clean Long Wear Foundation

Sunday Riley skin care has been a total game changer for me, so when I saw that they were entering the realm of make up, I just couldn’t help myself. While the name may elicit an eye roll out of most, I am more interested in the word “clean” in the title, because I have been looking for a foundation to wear on my bad skin days that will both cover and soothe redness and irritation. When my skin is breaking out badly, I hate piling on the products, but I need the coverage to even everything out, so finding a nice balance is neccessary.

My favorite thing about this foundation? The finish. It has a very natural looking, satin matte finish that keeps my oil at bay without making my face look flat. Because it is such a clean formula, I feel comfortable wearing this over my worst break outs, and the medium coverage does a great job of evening out my skin.

Cover FX Power Play Foundation

I have always been a bit intimidated by Cover FX foundations, the brand has built itself on it’s high coverage formulas, and I have never really found myself needing anything so intense. When this foundation came out though, I was really intrigued by the thinner, more watery formula. This foundation is still full coverage and matte, but it just feels weightless on the skin. I just need a thin layer of this to keep me matte and even all day long, no heaviness or oxidization.

This formula claims to be sweat proof and waterproof, which I will definitely be putting to the test as summer gets closer and the weather gets warmer. My favorite thing about this foundation? Probably the packaging! It is so easy to get just the right amount of foundation, so no wasting any product!

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Long Wear Foundation

I know this foundation isn’t exactly brand new, but it is pretty new to me! I have had it sitting in my drawer for a while now, but never really spent much time testing it out and seeing how I really felt about it. The past week or so the weather has been heating up here, so I have been turning to my more matte foundations to keep my shininess under control all day at work. This foundation has been doing an amazing job keeping me oil free, but not so matte that I look cakey or lifeless.

This has a very thin consistency (think Urban Decay foundations) so it feels very lightweight on the skin, but it still has amazing coverage and blendability. Some people have said that this oxidizes on them (as many thin formulas can) but I haven’t noticed that. It looks exactly the same color at the end of the day on my skin, no orange tint at all.
