Memorial Day weekend is over, but the next few months are filled with prime beach weather perfect for swimming and bronzing. It’s easy to get lazy with our routines after a day in the sun, that effortless beachy feel is pretty intoxicating. It is so important to take care of our skin and hair after spending a day in the sun, and remember to pamper ourselves long after we’ve left the beach. Here are a few products that are perfect for a long weekend in the sand!
Of course I had to include some sunscreen! I know it’s said everywhere all the time, but there is nothing more important in skincare than proper sun protection. This heavy duty stick from Supergoop is perfect for throwing in your beach bag and reapplying throughout the day. And the stick packaging makes it easy to use even with sandy hands!
Your lips need sun protection too, and I always like something with a little color to it so I can wear it day and night. These lip balms from Fresh are a cult classic for a reason, and this nude shade is super flattering on a huge range of skin tones.
When it’s time for a fancy dinner out or a night with friends, you don’t want to cake on the make up over freshly tanned skin. I like to use a very radiant, thin concealer to brighten up my under eyes without covering up my freckles and whatever color I managed to get! A concealer pen like this from YSL can also double as a very subtle highlight on the cheekbones and down the bridge of the nose.
After applying a light layer of concealer, I usually just like to swipe on some mascara, but the humidity and the possibility of a walk by the ocean mean I need a sturdy, waterproof formula. This natural looking mascara from Clinique is perfect for all lashes, even short ones like mine.
When you want to bring that breezy beach scent home with you at the end of the day, try this candle from Maison Margiela. The follow up to the amazing REPLICA scent, this extremely intense candle only needs a few minutes to fill the room with bergamont, coconut milk and cedarwood.
When the heat really starts to bother me, I like to use a facial spray to calm my skin and cool me down. This luxurious mist from Omorovicza delivers amazing skin benefits with every spray, and it can be used on bare skin or over make up. This is also great for soothing slightly burnt cheeks.
While I am usually pretty good at keeping my face safe from the sun, I can sometimes slack when it comes to reapplying my body sunscreen. If I end up getting a sun burn, it’s important for me to apply an after sun lotion to keep myself from peeling. This product from Coola is great for turning that burn into a healthy glow.
Sun care is not just for skin, your hair needs protections from the heat and UV rays as well! Spray this on your strands and comb it through before hitting the beach to keep your color and moisture locked in and protected from the salt and sun. This can also double as a heat guard before blowdrying or straightening.
If you are more diligent about sunscreen than I am but want to look bronzed and glowy, try a bronzing body oil like this limited edition product from Sol de Janeiro. Like a spray tan without the long term commitment, this oil makes the skin appear healthy and sunkissed minus the damage.
After your beach weekend is over, it’s time to restore all of the hydration your skin may have lost in the sun. A moisturizing face oil like this will heal any lingering sunburn while boosting glow and plumping up the skin.
Let me know your beach weekend must haves!
