September Boxy Charm 2018

Wild Flower

I know I haven’t done a Boxy Charm review in a while, but I really loved this months box! I have been using these products each for a few days now, so let’s get into a quick initial review of each item!

Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Smokey Eyeshadow Palette $35.00

“Made up of 12 highly pigmented shades, the Nightingale palette is sure to help you create your best looks. The matte, shimmer and satin shades are soft in texture and the luxuriously smooth formula makes for easy blending and long wear.”

I love a nice cool toned eyeshadow palette, especially as the weather turns colder and my almost non-existent tan begins to fade. I have been wanting to try out more from this unique brand now being sold at Sephora, but I haven’t been able to find enough reviews to convince me. I have been wearing this the past few days and I must say, the quality is great! I prefer the shimmers/metallics to the mattes, they are creamier and easier to work with, but the colors all compliment each other nicely and you can get a varied range of looks with this palette.

Laura Geller Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Tropic Hues $28.00

“Add a gorgeous, glowy flush to your cheeks with this baked blush. Stunning swirls of liquid pigments are baked in Italy for 24 hours on terracotta tiles and hand-finished into a silky dome of powder. This smooth and long-wearing formula is paraben free, and infused with skin-loving antioxidants.”

I have been wanting to try one of the Baked-n-Brighten products from Laura Geller, and I am loving this bright, eye catching blush! This is extremely pigmented, so I need to use a very light hand otherwise I end up looking a bit clownish, but the color lasts all day on my skin. When I wear this, I can skin the highlighter because this has enough sheen in it on it’s own. I love adding a touch of this on top of a more matte blush as a shimmery topper.

Alamar Cosmetics Ojitos Brush Set $18.00

“Made with 100% synthetic fibers, these brushes are extremely soft, durable and essential to your brush collection. The flat painter brush effortlessly applies color onto your lids, while the fluffy blender brush can be used to seamlessly blend colors together. The flat tight liner brush is perfect for direct color application on your lash lines.”

I love the look of this brand, and I have been using my eyeshadow palette that I got from them often. I was actually considering purchasing this brush set on my own recently, and I’m happy I held off! I have been using each of these daily since opening up this box, and I cannot recommend them enough. The flat liner brush is perfect for adding a precise color to my lower lash line, the flat painter brush is great for packing on pigments and metallic shadows, and the blending brush is fluffy and lovely to use in the crease. The hairs are synthetic, so they work for both dry and cream/liquid products, and they are super easy to clean with no lost hairs. I really hope this brand adds to their brush range, because they are amazing!

Hank & Henry Liquid Lipstick in Petal Pusher $17.00

“Have your cake and wear it too. This frosting scented, long-wear liquid lipstick glides on smoothly while its vitamin E infused formula gives your lips the youthful look they deserve. It’s highly pigmented and dries to a stunning full-coverage matte finish that never dries your lips, and never transfers.”

This is another brand that I have been interested in checking out, and these new liquid lipsticks actually haven’t been released yet! I have found myself moving away a bit from liquid lipsticks for work days, but I have fallen in love with not only the formula of this lip color, but also the sweet scent! This dries very matte, but it doesn’t look cracked and dry on my lips after a few hours like most tend to do. The color is much deeper on me than I thought, but I think it would be a perfect subtle lip color for someone with a deep skin tone.

Butter London Stroke of Wow Roll On Liner $19.00

“Create precise, ultra-fine winged liner looks with this innovative liquid liner. The ergonomic handle gives you insane control while creating your liner looks. The roll-on applicator does all of the work for you while delivering a pitch-black pigment that meets even your boldest standards. Created with a longevity complex, this quick-drying, smudge-proof formula is guaranteed to last.”

I don’t wear much liquid eyeliner, mainly because I am so terrible at applying it, so I was excited to try out this product and see if it would make the whole process any easier. The wheel is tiny and is great at depositing the perfect amount of product. This liner is very thin and watery, but still very pigmented and opaque. It dried quickly on my lids, and stayed perfect for a good four hours before it started to look a bit worse for wear. I do like this product, but I just don’t enjoy the process of liquid liner, so I probably won’t use it very much.

Let me know what you got in your box this month and what your thoughts were!

Glowingly yours,

Jess

This month’s box does seem pretty good! I think that that was a great eyeshadow palette to receive. Something nice to have, but not something that I would purchase. That’s cool that the Hanky and Henry lipstick hasn’t even been released yet!
