‘Tis The Sea-Sun
It’s been a while since I’ve done a Boxycharm post, but this recent box really left me inspired! I like the uniqueness of this box compared to the past few months, and I am really happy with the things I got. Let’s get into a quick review of each item!
“This sheer lip gloss is infused with shimmering glitter and delivers a luscious, multidimensional and high-shine finish. The reflective glitter gloss can stand alone or as a lip topper, giving your lips a fuller look. The sunflower seed wax and mineral pigments coat, soothe and soften the lips.”
When I first saw this, I was kind of bummed because I assumed it was a metallic liquid lipstick, and they just don’t look nearly cool enough on me. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it on though to find that it has a much glossier, subtle finish to it. I love a sparkly lip gloss that doesn’t have too much of a base color to it, this really makes my lips look fuller and fancier!
“This vegan, cruelty-free Bodyography Lip Pencil is antioxidant rich, infused with coconut oil and vitamin E. The smooth yet long-wearing formula glides on effortlessly, delivery durable pigment that can frame, fill in and define the lips.”
Though wooden lip pencils tend to last longer on my lips, they are also a lot more drying. This product has a lovely color, but I really have to tug on my lips to get any pigmentation to show up. I may try warming this up in my hands before applying it next time, because it really is a great universal nude.
“This weightless, skin-smoothing, translucent setting powder locks your makeup into place while enhancing the look of your foundation. The soft puff applicator delivers the right amount of powder, blurring and filling fine lines and minimizing the appearance of pores. This specially formulated powder absorbs excess oils and reduces shine, leaving behind a soft matte finish.”
I am usually not super excited to see this brand because I haven’t yet seen the quality to back up the cutesy packaging. This setting powder though has me taking a second look at Pretty Vulgar! I have oily skin, so I am always willing to try anything that claims to mattifying my skin. I love loose setting powders for mattifying because you can really press a lot of product into the skin where you need it, but it still looks natural and sheer. I have only used this once, but I was really impressed by how long (around 4 hours) it kept my shininess at bay. The bulkiness of the packaging makes it hard to travel with and reapply throughout the day, but it creates a good base to add a faster powder on top of later.
“Detoxify your pores from daily grime with COSMEDIX’s Activated Charcoal Mask. Diatomaceous earth visibly improves the brightness of your skin while the activated charcoal and kaolin clay draw out dirt and impurities from your pores.”
My skin has been really sensitive lately, so I wanted to patch test this on just a small bit on skin on my cheek, and boy am I glad I did that! Wherever I put this mask I broke out in tiny little red bumps, luckily they went away after a day, but I am gonna have to pass this mask on to one of my heartier-skinned friends.
“Get those pesky baby hairs, straighten those bangs or touch up your curls on the go with this incredibly adorable PYT Mini Straightener. The floating ceramic plates adjust as you style, allowing you to create straight, wavy, or curly locks. This little guy reaches a maximum temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit.”
I was super excited to see this in my box, especially after seeing how expensive it normally is! I don’t use heat very often on my hair, so I never spend much money on tools. I have naturally pretty straight hair, but lately I have been using my straightener to fix the little crazy pieces around my face that tend to show how little sleep I actually got the night before. This yellow straightener from PYT is tiny, so I don’t see being able to quickly use it on my whole head, but it is perfect to travel with for on the go touch ups!
Total of this months box: $169.00
This month’s box was definitely worth the $21 I spent on it, and I am really happy with 4 out of the 5 products in it. Let me know your favorite beauty subscription service!
