Like me, you have probably been spending an inordinate amount of time at home in the past few weeks, and cabin fever is setting in. I have been doing everything I can to keep myself sane like exercising outside in the back yard and moving the furniture around in my room. Of course, it isn’t realistic to think that I can continue rearranging the same 5 things forever, I have been trying to find tiny escapes to help get me through the day. One of my favorite things to do has been lighting a candle in whatever room I am working in. Scent can be an easy way to transport yourself, even if it is only temporary. Here are a few that I have been loving!
Top Note: Bergamot
Mid Note: Marine, Beach, Plumeria
Base Note: Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Amber, Musk
For those of us who aren’t quarantined in a place with an ideal climate, any beach themed candle is the perfect way to bring the sun and sand home. This little tea candle packs a punch, and I only have to burn it for 15 minutes for the entire room to smell exactly like an afternoon on the boardwalk.
“Scents of wet road from a summer storm, sweet blackberries, giant southern magnolias and nutty pecan.”
Living in Alabama for my college years was a huge departure from my east coast lifestyle, and although I love being back here, there are definitely times I long to be back in the south. This candle is exactly the sweet, slow indulgence of an Alabama Sunday morning, and it satiates my need for southern comfort.
“lavender, eucalyptus, sandalwood, cinnamon leaf”
When the anxiety starts to hit, I always move towards scents with Lavender in them, mostly because it reminds me so much of my mom and grandma. They both have always had lavender items all over their houses, and nothing makes me feel more at ease than relaxing with my loved ones.
“Summon your inner hippie with the earthy, ripe aroma of a freshly picked fig. This refreshing and soothing scent is perfect for burning during early morning yoga or meditation practices.”
Fig is one of my favorite candle notes, it makes me feel like a chic Into The Gloss editor working hard somewhere in a beautiful Brooklyn office. This candle in particular has a very clean fig scent, the amber base notes are subtle enough not to overpower everything else, and the whole presentation is simple and refreshing.
“Featuring a fusion of floral magnolia and woodsy cedar notes, this scented soy candle helps you create an inviting atmosphere in any room in your home.”
This candle is the perfect combination of pine and sugar, it always makes me think of eating dessert outside on the porch with my grandma in the Adirondacks (specific I know, but oh so calming). The slight floral notes make this a very feminine alpine scent.
“This Scent Captures The Essence Of Piñon Pine, A Coniferous Stape From The American Southwest. Earthy Notes Of Pine + Balsam Fir Balance Resinous Amber And Spicy Black Pepper. Light Vanilla + Smoky Cedarwood Add Warmth And Familiarity. This Scent Feels Like An Old Friend: Cultivated But Intimate.”
This is summer camp in a jar. If you want to be transported to the middle of Maine or the Poconos just by lighting candle, order this little baby immediately.
“oakmoss, fig, plum, vanilla and yuzu”
“tree flowers, rose, sage and patchouli”
“coconut, pink peppercorn, orange blossom, coal and clove“
I have fallen in love with this adorable little trio from Boy Smells, it’s a perfect first foray into the brand. You get a super bright and refreshing scent with Lanai, a relaxing floral mix with Petal, and a super earthy, sexy smell with Prunus. Despite being small, these deliver a room filling scent after only a few minutes of burning, so they are definitely worth the money.
Let me know what candles you have been burning!
